New Jersey's Historic Twin Lights

Located in Highlands, New Jersey this set of well-known lighthouses are commonly known as the Navesink Twin Lights. The pair of lights are currently nonoperational but in their prime played a major role in creating the Country that we live in today.

The lights were welcomed in 1828 after the US Shipping Industry requested another structure to supplement the work of the Sandy Hook Light. The set of lights had been used for many historical moments throughout the decades of their operation including being the sight of the first reading of the pledge of allegiance. The lights are now operating as a historic site and museum.

Visiting the lights is such a unique opportunity as it gives you a look into the history of Lighthouses in New Jersey. The best is exploring the grounds and museum and then climbing to the top of the light! The State Park Service and Twin Lights Historical society host special events every now and then.
