Salem County

Salem County is rich in colonial history, with notable sites such as the Hancock House in Hancocks Bridge, which was the site of a Revolutionary War massacre. The Salem Oak, one of the oldest white oaks in the country, stands in the historic Friends Burial Ground in Salem. The Old Salem County Courthouse, built in 1735, is the oldest active courthouse in New Jersey and offers a fascinating glimpse into early American legal history.
