Get Lost In This New Jersey Botanical Garden With An Odd Past
Updated: Jun 9, 2020
With spring just around the corner, it's the perfect time to start talking about all of New Jersey's amazing gardens! Today we wanted to focus on one garden in particular!
Located in Middleton, NJ is Deep Cut Gardens, one of Monmouth County Park's many gardens! This 45-acre garden is practically made for the home gardener! You'll come across a wide variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees as you roam the grounds!
This garden has a fascinating history. Before it was a public area, it was home to former mob boss Vito Genovese. There used to be a house on the property; however, it burned to the ground just weeks after he fled to Italy to avoid being indicted.
The gardens are free for anyone to enjoy! Stop off in the greenhouses to see a variety of Cacti and Succulents or visit the Parterre, which features over 50 varieties roses and 180 bushes! Along with their usual everyday activities, they also hold events now and then. Get directions here.
