Join us on this unique Wine Tour through New Jersey. Every other week we'll be pairing a Hike with a local Winery for you to enjoy! Can you think of a better way to spend a sunny weekend this spring and summer? Take a scenic hike and then settle in for a wine tasting! We sure can't! Check out the first pairing below! For this pairing, you have two hiking options! Pick from either a leisurely walk or an intense uphill climb! If you would like to hike both, Stairway to Heaven is an extension of the Appalachian Boardwalk.
Appalachian Trail Boardwalk
On this leisurely walk, you'll enjoy 1.5 miles of elevated path including a 110-foot extension bridge over what was once a prehistoric lake! Near the end of this path, you'll cross through an active cattle field! This is a good hike for anyone. There is so much to look at and enjoy as you walk. If you would like to hike Stairway to Heaven as well continue across the street.
Stairway to Heaven
This is a more intense hike that starts out as a steep climb up to the top of Wawayanda Mt. This is an out and back trail s obe prepared to walk down what you came up! On your hike, you'll see waterfalls and at the top enjoy amazing views of Vernon Valley, Pochuck Mt, the Kittatinny's, Catskills and the Black dirt region.
Ventimiglia Vineyard, Wantage
This week's Vinyard is a twenty-minute drive west of our hiking location. Ventimiglia Vinyard is located on the 50 acre "Rocky Ridge Farm" in the beautiful rustic rolling hills of Sussex County. They've been handcrafting wine as a family for generations. They use top quality grapes aged in oak barrels with little mechanical and chemical interventions which result in optimal flavors, aroma and finish. The winery is open from April through December.
