Walk & Wine - Pairing Three - South Jersey
***This blog was written prior to statewide park closures***
Join us on this unique Wine Tour through New Jersey. Every other week we'll be pairing a Hike with a local Winery for you to enjoy! Can you think of a better way to spend a sunny weekend this spring and summer? Take a scenic hike and then settle in for a wine tasting! We sure can't! Check out the second pairing below! Photos of the hike and winery are the bottom of the post! Depending on when you complete this Walk & Wine the winery may not be open due to Covid-19. This week's winery is doing orders to go!
Batona Trail - Apple Pie Hill
Get out and explore the Jersey Pine Barrens! This week's trail is the Batona - Apple Pie Hill Trail link located in the Wharton State Forest. The trail length is around 4.3 miles out and back trail making it 8.6 miles round trip. It's rated easy and is a good hike for all level hikers. Some sights to see on this trail are the Carranza Monument a stone structure dedicating the crash of the "Lindegburh of Mexico" and Apple Pie Fire Tower (Currently closed to the public). The Batona Trail does continue past the fire tower if you'd like to keep hiking. Just be sure to research and make note of the trail before your trip!
